28th edition of Chá com Letras at Embassy of India in 27 July, 2018.

The Embassy of India in Brasília organized on  Friday 27th July 2018, the 28th edition of Chá com Letras promoting cultural interchange between India and Brazil through poetry.

The event was hosted by the Deputy Chief of Mission,  Abhay Kumar who was joined by four other poets: Abena Busia, Ambassador of Ghana in Brazil who has two published poetry collections to her credit and has written on subjects of feminism and African Studies; Cristiane Sobral, an actress, writer and Brazilian poet, the first black actress graduated in Theater Interpretation from the University of Brasilia; Marcos Fabrício Lopes da Silva, a journalist and Afro-Brazilian poet with five published books and a Doctor in Literary Studies by the Federal University of Minas Gerais; and Nicolas Behr, a well known poet of Brasilia, a member of Funatura (Pró-Natureza Foundation), who participates in the ecological movement by  researching the native species of the cerrado, through a initiative called Pau-Brasilia.


It was a special edition of the event since a total lunar eclipse took place during the event. The participants gathered outside the Embassy to watch the natural phenomenon. The poets read their texts on various themes.

By the end of the event, the participants were treated to chai, pakora and samosa, a good sample of Indian traditional food.

Cha com Letras is a monthly literary event hosted by the Embassy of India. Over 100 poets and writers have participated in the event so far.
