Implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission


Embassy of India, Brasilia took various initiatives for the implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission. Some of them as follows:

a.) The cleaning up of the Embassy premises was taken up on a large scale. All the toilets were thoroughly cleaned to ensure a hygienic environment. All the computers along with peripherals , electronic and electrical items were cleaned. A few Photographs of the Embassy Premises before and after cleaning are attached.

b.) The old and obsolete articles viz. Newspapers, Magazines, Publicity papers to be discarded were identified and separated. Some waste has been identified for re-cycling and recycling firms have been contacted. This created more usable space in the Chancery.

c.) All sections of the Embassy were assigned duties to ensure the implementation of cleanliness drive in their respective workspaces on a recurring and permanent basis. All the office furniture, filing cabinets and cupboards were cleaned and the files were arranged and were placed properly by all sections. A monitoring system to ensure compliance was also established.

d.) It was observed that quality of potable water had become worse due to the presence of impurities therefore, water tanks in the Embassy were cleaned and water filters at the Residences and Chancery were changed to ensure the hygiene and better health of all Officials and local based employees.

e.) Some plants were planted in the Embassy Complex to give support to Green Movement in India and to clean the environmental air.

f.) The efforts above added to the continuing efforts of the Embassy in ensuring cleanliness. Embassy of India in Brazil is rated as one of the best Embassies in Brazil when it comes to cleanliness. Brazil is a country with a high civic sense and cleanliness is an aspect that is given high priority. The Embassy strives to achieve even higher standards and has been doing so successfully, as can be seen in some of the photographs placed below.
